We met them up in Delhi so we could take them to the Taj Mahal. We only took our second eldest daughter with us (we try and give them all a turn at coming away with us alone).
When we arrived at the domestic airport we were met by our good friends and enjoyed a couple of hours together over coffee before we went to the international terminal to meet the family.
We waited with anticipation at the arrivals area after paying to be able to go inside. The new airport was really nice. Maybe the people that are trying to pick the commonwealth games to pieces should have a look at the good stuff that has been done.
We spotted my folks before they saw us and then waited as they searched for their bags. Then it was hugs and kisses and welcome to India.
I think their senses were blown away. One of the first things I remember was waiting at an airport lift and someone walked straight in front of my Dad where he politely told them that he was there first. Lesson number one... if you leave a gap in front of you... someone will take it. It was very funny to see.
Then the journey to the hotel, the excitement of the road trip and traffic.
We then arrived at the hotel in Pihar Ghang (? spelling)
I had purposely booked a small hotel in the heart of the market area. They were doing some work on it for the commonwealth games so it was a bit messy. Never mind though.
We were shown into our rooms and this is where the second funny thing happened, My Mum thought she was getting on a lift. The rooms were big enough for a bed and..... well that's about it really, not much room for anything else.
My brother was soaking it all in and loving it. we walked the streets and had some dinner before heading for a brief visit to our friends in Delhi.
The next day we headed to the Taj and around Agra for the day.
We then headed back to Bangalore to some very excited kids and we had a fantastic time. My Mum stayed on for another couple of weeks and we said farewell a couple of days ago. Tears, tears, tears.
The rest I shall tell in pictures, although, some pics I need to get from my Dad and don't have them yet. I will do that before too long.
